Chevrolet's S-10 has had a V6 engine for years, and that V6 has been the 4.3 for about twenty years now. One of the longest running production engines in existence, Chevrolet's 4.3L engine has no shortage of replacement parts around local junkyards as well as a good following of replacement parts at the local parts store. One thing about the 4.3 that some don't know is that all the parts from a Chevy 350, including pistons, rings, lifters, rods, and rockers. If you happen to scrounge up some high-performance parts to use from an 8 cylinder, they'll fit on the 6.
A damaged car can easily be found at a junkyard. If you are buying a car for a teenager, then you may want to go for an old unused one only. You can also go a car which does not start. In terms of car performance and safety, make sure you check on the pressure of your tires regularly. This is an easy task to do especially if you purchase a tire gauge from any pick a part store you can check your tire pressure anytime you want. Always remember to stick with the tire pressure that your car or truck manufacturer recommends so you don't over or under inflate your tires. This is also a good time to inspect the tread on your tires and make sure they are not wearing improperly because if you notice that one of your front tires is starting to wear to much on one side it could be time for you to get your tires rotated and balanced or have an alignment done.
Brake rotors require a clean, smooth, flat surface on the rotors. Otherwise your brake performance will suffer. A rough surface will accelerate pad wear. It will also increase the risk of noise. An uneven surface or variations in rotor thickness can cause vibrations, noise and annoying brake pedal pulsations. Brake drums that have grooves or any kind of damage should be replaced immediately. Sometimes, you cannot do all auto work by yourself. Your local pull a part store can help you turn the rotors for these discs to have extra life so you do not have to buy new.
Another good thing about salvage yards is the spare parts here may not be found in local auto part shops. Some cars are manufactured in other countries and so spare parts, especially of older models, have to be ordered from the manufacturer, which is very expensive. However, in a salvage yard, it can be gotten at a cheaper price.
